DNX FOCUS | The untangling begins: Unravelling spaghetti wires symbolic of Albee admin thrust to untangle woes of Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A glance up at major streets in this highly-urbanized provincial capital of 600,000 will reveal among other things a tangle of wires in power poles, an eyesore that the incoming administration of presumptive Mayor Albee Benitez, one of his key allies said.

“It is symbolic,” re-elected Councilor Al Victor Espino said of the plan to unravel power and communication lines that have gone spaghetti through the years since this city became a center of trade and commerce in the province that is the sugar-producing capital of the Philippines.

Espino told DNX that while the step appears to address cosmetic concerns, it goes beyond that.

He said he, re-elected solon Greg Gasataya, and partymate and incoming Councilor Jude Thaddeus Sayson met with some telephone company (telco) representatives to discuss the problem of tangled wires that will not only address what looks like simply an eyesore problem but will benefit Internet users.

We are all dependent on the Internet and this will help in making telcos give better services, he told DNX in a one-on-one interview with Executive Editor Julius D Mariveles.
