BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Apparently irate consumers of the power firm Central Negros Electric Cooperative took it to task yesterday as four power interruptions hit parts of this urban center yesterday.
DNX research showed yesterday was the second day of continuous brownouts that reached up to 10 interruptions in only two days with most of these happening at noontime or in the afternoon when heat is sweltering.
On May 5, there were five brownouts based on the CENECO Facebook page.
These occurred from 10:23 to 10:40am affecting Burgos Feeder 3, another one in the same feeder from 11:01 to 11:04am, and a third outage from 11:36 to 11:38am.
All were reported as having been caused by “automatic tripped off.”
Yesterday, 6 May, the outages continued mostly in the afternoon – a 2:14 to 2:17pm “automatic trip off” at Alijis Feeder 3, and a 3:37 to 3:41pm outage at ASDES Gonzaga Feeder 1.
The hot evening was made hotter by two more outages – one at 8:55pm affecting the Burgos, Mt. View, Talisay, and Silay feeders, and another at 9:03pm affecting Mt. View Feeder 2.
CENECO blamed the 8:55pm outage to “Bacolod-Silay 69kV line automatically tripped” and the second one to “manual offline to replace busted transformer.”
Many consumers posted curses in the comments section of the CENECO posts.
The post on the 8:55pm brownout on 6 May got the highest reactions at around 1,700, 681 of which are “angry.”
