BACOLOD CITY – Bacolod City Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia ordered an intensified operation to inspect business establishments operating without necessary permits.
“We are serious about this and that we will follow the law,” said Leonardia.
The team to conduct the operation will be composed of the Office of the Building Official, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Permits and Licensing Division, and City Health Office.
Leonardia said the team will concentrate on the accommodation facilities in Bacolod including boarding houses.
On Friday, BFP, along with other concerned agencies temporarily closed two hotels and a pension house operating without business permits.
The mayor hoped that the recent closure of the business establishments will serve as a lesson to others who have not complied with the city requirements.
The city mayor added that the safety of the public must be the top priority.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, meanwhile, said he will ask the city council to pass an ordinance that will require a number of days to finish the business permit application.
He added that in the city’s Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) every year, permit applicants can finish all the requirements in three days.
BOSS will start on 2 January next year.
