Bacolod songbird Vanya joins country’s top singers for online Valentine concert for flood victims, indigent students

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Bacolod native Vanya Castor joins top Philippine balladeers Jose Mari Chan, Martin Nievera, Side A band and noted singers Clara Benin, Natalia, and Carlos Sison for an online Valentine concert on 13 February 2021.

Billed by organizers as “A Night of Love and Music,” it will be for the benefit of flood victims in Negros and indigent students, Lamblight Catholic School announced on its Facebook page.

Castor, who has gained fame as a worship singer and freelance artist commissioned by top brands in the country, was a former contestant of Idol Philippines.

Her rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow was reported by ABS-CBN to have moved one of the judges, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, to tears.

She is a native of Mandalagan village where she was raised.

Her father, Hernani Castor, is a councilman in the village.
