The Bacolod Task Force Disiplina (TFD), headed by Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, has reprimanded a total of 273 violators of basic health protocols such as obervance of physical distancing and wearing of face mask as of Monday 10 August, 2020, a press release from Bacolod City PIO said.
Of the 273 violators, 42 were fined for violating physical distancing and 231 were fined for not wearing face masks, TFD action officer Wilfredo Geolingo said.
Geolingo added that only six of the total number of violators were non-residents of Bacolod City, who were fined P300. Bacolod residents were fined P200.
These penalties are stipulated under City Ordinance No. 926, also known as “Face Mask and Social Distancing Ordinance of Bacolod City,” authored by Councilor Archie Baribar.
Under the ordinance, an option for an eight-hour community service instead of paying the fine is an option for violators.
As of Monday, the fines collected by the TFD amounted to P4,400.
Together with the TFD roving in the city is a representative from the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) who issues a receipt to the violators who choose to pay the fine.
Geolingo said the collection will be turned over to the City Treasurer’s Office, and will be utilized by the City Health Office for anti-COVID responses.*/CITY PIO
