24 individuals evacuated in Alijis due to landslide

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Twenty-four individuals were evacuated from the sub-villages of Roadside and San Jose in Alijis village after a landslide occurred in the area.

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has recently classified Bacolod City on Red Alert or High Risk due to Tropical Storm Agaton.

DRRMO also monitors the areas within the villages of Bata, Mandalagan, Banago, and Village 39 for possible flooding.

The evacuation and monitoring teams of the DRRMO are currently on alert for reports of any possible untoward incidents.

DRRMO chief Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan in an interview with the Bacolod City PIO said they are closely monitoring the coastal areas and riverbanks in the city.

DRMMO meanwhile considers preemptive evacuations in some areas if heavy rains continue.
