Worker dies in traffic accident

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A construction worker crossing the national highway in neighboring Talisay City died as a result of injuries he got after he was hit by a car.

Police said the fatality, Roberto Parreño was crossing the national highway and Mabini Street intersection when he was hit by a Toyota Wigo sedan driven by Claire Anne Javelona, 20, a Silay City native

Parreño was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here but died of his wounds a few hours later.

Police added the suspect was released after an 18-hour reglementary period as Parreño’s family did not file a complaint against her after Javelona agreed to pay all the expenses they needed.
