Travel to and from Iloilo suspended as city is placed under MECQ

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Travel to and from Iloilo City and Negros Island has been temporarily suspended effective 25 May 2021 until 31 May 2021, the Philippine Coast Guard confirmed

The PCG, in a travel advisory, affirmed the Executive Order 041-A of Iloilo Mayor Jerry Treñas, which ordered the temporary suspension of travel to and from Iloilo as CoViD cases started rising again.

Treñas has also placed the city of Iloilo under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine.

 Under the MECQ, the following are the salient conditions:

CURFEW

Curfew is between 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. until 31 May 2021, with exemptions for those working with the medical industry, in government, or those in essential businesses delivering essential supplies and services.

Vulnerable sectors, namely pregnant women, persons above 65 years old, persons below 18 years, persons with comorbidities or high-risk health factors, and persons with disabilities shall remain in their residences at all times, unless when there is a need to obtain essential supplies,

Those living with the vulnerable sectors are the ones allowed to obtain essential supplies for them.

Persons above 65 years and below 18 years are also not allowed to enter malls and shopping centers except when obtaining essential supplies.

Non-essential businesses such as entertainment centers like karaoke bars, recreational venues like internet cafes, and personal care services (parlors, etc) are not allowed to operate.

Public gatherings are not allowed or strongly discouraged.

Burial, wakes, and necrological services may be allowed provided that these are held in private residences and limited to immediate family members.
