A man in EB Magalona town successfully rescued six persons but himself died in the attempt.
John Mark Dedoyco, 22, was celebrating a church-organized activity along with others on the seawaters of EB Magalona when six of his companions were swept away by the currents.
Dedoyco managed to save the six, three of whom are minors, who were drowning, but himself perished from his efforts.
Investigators are now looking into the liability of the organizers who led the team-building activity that led to the drowning of seven, one of which was the rescuer John Mark Dedoyco.
EB Magalona chief of Police Capt. Eric Doronila confirmed that Dedoyco was not a church member but was just invited by his friends to attend.
