ODETTE ROUNDUP | Thousands evacuated in Bacolod due to Odette

Around 1,220 families consisting of close to 5,000 individuals in Bacolod city were evacuated due to Typhoon Odette, according to City Dsaster Risk Reduction Management officer, Anna Maria Laarni Pornan.

Pornan added that majority of the evacuated residents had prefered to stay on the sites while their houses remain unfixed and electric power unrestored.

The city government has also extended cash assistance to the evacuees through the Department of Social services and development.

Pornan reiterated that monitoring and clearing operations are now being done on streets and other severely obstructed areas of the city.

As of 2:00 P.M DOST PAG ASA has placed Negros Occidental under storm signal no. 1 specifically in towns of Cauayan,Candoni, Ilog and City of Sipalay.
