Mayor Evelio Leonardia will lead the inauguration of the newly replaced and widened bridge at Lacson Street Extension leading to the Alijis-Murcia road, tomorrow [Dec. 8].

This rehabilitation project included bridge replacement from the original steel bridge to this 4-lane concrete bridge, drainage installation with sidewalks, river riprap for flood control mitigation and the construction and widening of the road all the way to Magsaysay Avenue.

The original steel bridge will be reconstructed at Barangay Vista Alegre to serve the relocation sites.

The bridge is located at Magsungay river along Lacson Extension in Barangay Singcang-Airport, and its original two lanes were expanded into four lanes.

“Given the volume of cars using this road, this will surely improve traffic flow as not only that the bridge is now 4 lanes but even the road up to Magsaysay Avenue was also widened into 4 lanes. And as this connects to the newly widened bridge in Lupit river, its traffic impact in this extremely busy road network is very significant,” Leonardia said.

This is among the major infra projects funded from the loan of the City Government with the Development Bank of the Philippines.
