“A LONG ROAD AHEAD FOR US FILIPINOS”

A review of our Philippine History, would show how our forbears have dreamt, fought, bled & died to attain our country’s independence. Yet, our country’s present status as a sovereign nation did not result from us having violently successfully overthrown our last colonizer.

The truth being that our complete independence was peacefully given to us on July 4, 1946 by the United States of America.

Since then & until now, we have continued our path of self-governance under a democracy with both its blessings & abuses.

As a people, we take pride of the idea of being an independent country. Yet, many amongst us would want to relocate abroad & acquire another country’s citizenship.

We take pride of our democracy. However, our understanding of democracy has focused on individual rights & have forgotten to teach our children the importance of our country’s unity.

My countrymen, seeing how we have proceeded as a people after attaining our independence as a nation with our exercise of our brand of democracy, I say that a major re-examination by our National Government, Lawmakers & Education Officials are in order to redesign our country’s political, education, economic & military roadmaps moving forward.

Otherwise, us Filipinos will continue to be trapped in the quagmire of disunity, poverty, weakness, insurgency & corruption.

An economically weak nation will be easily manipulated.

A diplomatically weak nation will be ignored.

A militarily weak nation will be bullied.

A divided nation will destroy itself.

A corrupt nation has no future.

So, how do we proceed ?

I say, let us start by having leaders of substance and conscience to guide our country in attaining economic development, diplomatic stature, military strength, a united people & strong solutions against corruption.

It will be a long road ahead my fellow Filipinos.
