BACOLOD CITY – A lawyer and former city councilor here is pushing for a ban of broadcaster Ben Tulfo after his on-air treatment of Mayor Evelio Leonardia that he found “objectionable.”

Caesar Distrito, a three-term councilor and member of Leonardia’s Grupo Progreso party said in a post on his personal Facebook account “the reasons why Tulfo brothers are losing fast its credibility, can be summed up to (sic) their tendency to abuse power and privilege granted to them as media practitioners.”

He described the interview of Tulfo with Leonardia as showing the broadcaster’s” arrogance and abusive tendencies to malign their subject persons or resource persons; uttering personal insults to your resource person is a big NO-NO especially so that you are in fact asking assistance.”

The lawyer, who earned a degree in Mass Communications, also pointed out that Tulfo” even knows that the Mayor has no part in the contract, no participation nor involvement in the negotiations, but still he keeps on maligning him live in Facebook, Youtube and TV. Decency dictates that he should at least render some respect to him, not because he is Bing Leonardia, but to the office he was representing and the people of the City of Bacolod who had elected him into office.”

Tulfo, Distrito went on in his post,” was even so sure in his ‘judgment’ that Councilor Al Victor Espino has a liability when in fact, there was no contract at all.”

Distrito also noted the check” is not even signed” and

“the alleged complainant also admitted that they are the ones who went here Bacolod, and approached our policemen for a supposed charity event. Based on her statements Councilor Al Victor Espino even accommodated them and assisted them to have that charity event. As a lawyer, Wala nada liability si Councilor Al Espino as he just assisted them to push through with the event, and more reasons, wala nada sala si Mayor Bing!”

DNX has sent a request to Bitag Multimedia Network for an interview with Tulfo but thus has remained unanswered as of this writing.
