TALISAY CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – An improved flour made from sweet potatoes, a rice pest detector, fixtures made from plant waste, and a whole lot more were among the new technology and innovations that took center stage here as the Technological University of the Philippines Visayas campus opened its Technology Convention today, 7 March 2024.

This year, technology for agriculture, aquaculture, and natural resources take center stage as an pfficial pf tge Department of Science and Technology emphasized the valuable need of science and technology education in shaping the country’s socioeconomic agenda.
“We must enhance and elevate our STEM programs to cultivate a skilled workforce capable of driving innovation and sustainable development, ” Keithlyn Sarah Bernardino, who represented Engr. Rowen Gelonga Regional Director DOST IV , said in her remarks before leaders and representative from industry partners, science and technology agencies, IP community, farmer organizations, and researchers, among those in the audience.

Bernardino, also pointed out the aspiration for “matatag, maginhawa, at panatag na buhay” emphasizing continuity of science, technology, and innovation.
Campus director, Dr, Eric Malo-oy, opened the convention.
