BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Some residents here and in other parts of the province were kept awake by the sweltering heat with some taking to social media to air their gripes against power distributor Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) for the blackouts that lasted for almost 10 hours since past midnight of 14 October 2022.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, however, confirmed on its Facebook. page that three power distribution firms – CENECO, Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (NONECO), and the Negros Ocicidental Electric Cooperative (NOCECO) – and the Panay Sub Grid were affected by the “power loss.”

NGCP added the “unscheduled power interruption” around 12:57am today, 15 October 2022.

NGCP added in its Facebook post that “power loss at Panay and Negros sub grids” were “due to isolation of NGCPs Bacolod-Kabankalan and Bacolod – Cadiz 138kV lines.”

As of this morning, 15 October 2022, CENECO said power had been restored in 10 feeders – Alijis 1 to 7 and Murcia 1 and 2 – while there is no power yet in the Bacolod Alijis-Murcia and Bacolod Reclamation substations.

Both NGCP and CENECO have not updated these posts as this story goes to print.
