Sugarlandia still has 18 poll hotspots three days before start of local campaign

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A ranking police officer in the province said the election hotspots here will probably remain at 18 as the start of the local campaign on Friday, 28 March nears.

Provincial police office spokesman, Lt. Abegael Donasco, told DNX though the the hotspot list could change, this might also remain as is until the start of campaign period.

The 18 areas under the hotspot list are:

Under the yellow category – Don Salvador Benedicto

For orange category – the cities of Silay,Victorias, Himamaylan, Kabankalan, Sipalay and the towns of Binalbagan, Manapla, Cauayan, Hinoba-an, Ilog, Isabela, La Castellana and Toboso

Under Red Category or the area of grave concern where there is a serious armed threat and recorded election related incidents are Escalante City, and the towns of Calatrava, Moises Padilla and Candoni.

Recently the provincial police said more than 2,000 policemen across the province will be deployed to different cities and municipalities as part of its security preparation for the upcoming 2022 polls.

Donasco however clarified that candidates who request for security will not be guaranteed of such unless their requests are approved by the Commsision on Elections and the Joint Security Control Center as part of the poll security process.
