Konseho to CENECO: Reconsider “one bill policy”

BACOLOD CITY – The City Council is calling on the Ceneco board and management to reconsider its “One Bill Policy”.

In a resolution approved by the city council, the local utilities firm is requested to conduct consultations with consumers and possibly come up with various payment methods or to extend the given period.

Councilor Simplicia Distrito, resolution author, said the implementation of the policy is disadvantageous to low income wage earners as they may struggle to pay their electricity bills in a short period of time.

“A lot of our constituents in the city are clamoring about it because according to them, the policy seems so sudden and no consultation was done to allow the consumers of Ceneco to voice out their concerns and sentiments over the policy,” Distrito said.

The policy requires member-consumers to pay their bills within nine days after it was given to them, otherwise, their account is considered past due.

Ceneco earlier reminded its member-consumers of the strict implementation of the “One Bill Policy”.
