Relief operations are underway for the earthquake-ravaged cities of Mindanao, as a group of riders distribute goods for affected families in the southern regions of the country.

The operations, led by Lakbayin ang Pilipinas riders Hinobaan Councilor Jason Tupas, engineer Christian Aguirre and Pastor Russel Ban, will be held this weekend, 16 November at the municipality Makilala, Cotabato.

Hundreds of bags of goods will be distributed in an evacuation center in the municipality, which is among the hardest hit by the series of earthquakes that rocked Mindanao in recent weeks.

Tupas and his friends had done the rounds earlier to document the extent of the damage of the quakes, as well as spent a week extensively campaigning for funds for the relief goods.

This kind of venture, Tupas told DNX, is nothing new, as they have done this before when they travelled to war-torn Marawi in 2018 in what is now dubbed as Ride to Marawi.

“Our intention (for this year’s venture) is to send even just a little help for the victims of the earthquake,” Tupas said, adding, “This is the culture that we want to share — making adventures while serving humanity.”

Their first adventure was in 2017 when, Tupas shared, he and his team were able to “set a personal record of riding the whole country using 200cc motorcycle in 12 days”.

That was the start of their yearly project, this time bringing in an advocacy by riding through areas struck by either war or natural calamities.
