Congress approves bill for Bacolod general hospital

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines — The House of Representatives has approved on third and final reading the house bill establishing a general hospital in Bacolod.

The hospital, according to HB 6731 authored by Bacolod Cong. Greg Gasataya, will be known as the Bacolod City General Hospital, the Facebook page of the congressman said.

Under the guidelines of the Department of Health, a tertiary general hospital offers services such as Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Emergency Services, Outpatient Services, and Ancilliary and Support Services such as clinical laboratory, imaging facility, and pharmacy.

Along with these, facilities such as Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Unit, Ambulatory Surgical Clinic, Dialysis Clinic, Tertiary Clinical Lab with Histopathology, a Blood Bank, and 3rd Level X-Ray may also be included.

Under the bill, the city of Bacolod will provide for the hospital’s establishment, operation, and maintenance.
