BACOLOD CITY – Councilors here will meet with Police Office Director, Colonel Henry Biñas, and Deputy City Director for Operations Lieutenant Colonel Jovie Espenido next week to discuss police matters and peace and order situation in the city.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said the executive or closed door session with Biñas and Espenido will be held in a private hotel.

Familiaran said the meeting was supposed to happen this week but Espenido was not available because he attended a series of hearings in Albuera, Leyte, his previous assignment.

“We want to know the names of the four people (barangay officials) mentioned to be involved in illegal drugs,” Familiaran said.

BCPO earlier said in a news conference that they received information that four barangay officials in Bacolod are allegedly involved in illegal drugs.

Familiaran added that this will also be an opportunity for the top officials of the city police to discuss their needs and concerns to the council.

“I think whatever his (Espenido) concerns are, I can relay that to the mayor,” Familiaran said.

The closed door meeting is set to happen after the city council passed a resolution requesting Biñas and Espenido to discuss the peace and order situation here.

Councilor Wilson “Jun” Gamboa, Jr, author of the resolution, said there is a need to inform the council of the peace and order situation of the city so it can formulate policies and ordinances to help prevent and resolve crimes.
