Bacolod gets Patient One, person with travel history to London, England, 56; “stable, improving” in medical facility

(UPDATE 1) BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Mayor Evelio Leonardia here has confirmed that the city, now under a general community quarantine, has its first Patient One that is recovering, in complete isolation in a private medical facility.

“It is confirmed,” Leonardia said in an emergency news conference at the government center here.

Hours before the confirmation, rumors had already been swirling on social media about the patient.

City Health Officer Maria Carmela Gensoli confirmed to DNX that they have already started contact tracing or identifying people the patient came in contact with after he arrived 29 February.

DOH officials informed local health personnel about the laboratory result noontime today.

Physicians tending to the patient told local health officials that he is recovering after being isolated in the treatment facility.

The city remains under a general community quarantine status and has shut its borders to non-city residents, except those who are exempted.

A curfew had also been imposed over the more than half a million population from 10pm to 4am.
