8 p.m. curfew starts Aug 9; violators to pay fines, render community service

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia has signed Executive Order imposing the new curfew hours from 8 p.m to 4 a.m. starting 9 August, until 22 August, 2020.

The mayor, in the E.O., pointed out the need to impose stricter curfew hours as the current situation demands it.

Exempted from the curfew hours are the following: public emergencies like fire/ambulance services/other occasions caused by disaster or calamity; those requiring medical assistance on board ambulances/PUVs or private vehicles;

those working night shifts in private establishments; media practitioners; government officials and employees; and frontliners including those from the PNP whose work may extend beyond the new curfew.

Those exempted should provide acceptable personal/or company identification cards to prove their affiliation to the organizations.

PENALTIES

The E.O. states that violators will be subject to penalties as cited in the City Ordinance 934. (READ also: SP grants mayor ‘executive prerogative’ on curfew hours)

Any person found in a public place during non social hours are to be fined P500 or eight hours of community service. Community service shall be supervised by CHO in coordination with the barangay where the violator resides.

If not a resident of the city, the violator shall be penalized with a fine of P1,000. If the violator is a minor, his/her parents shall be the one to shoulder the penalties.

The penalties shall be complied with within 48 hours from apprehension. Anybody who failed to comply with the penalties will be charged accordingly, with a penalty of P5,000 or imprisonment of 10 days.
