BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Around 200,000 residents and 2,500 establishments in the city have registered for the Bacolod City Tracking System (BaCTrac), said Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Deputy for Medical Dr. Chris Sorongon.

Sorongon said the server has improved after the contact tracing application’s system slowed down due to sheer volume of requests for registration.”Now, we face less problem with the BacTrac.

The server has already improved,” said Sorongon.

He encouraged those who have not yet registered for the BacTrac to cooperate and help the local government in its contract tracing efforts.

BaCTrac is a web-based and mobile-based app developed for efficient and expeditious contact tracing of confirmed coronavirus disease (Covid-19) positive patients in the city and, consequently, allow the EOC Task Force to easily locate people suspected of having contact with COVID-19 patients.

Meanwhile, Contract Tracing Cluster Head Dr. Rosalie Deocampo called on those who experience symptoms of Covid-19 to go directly to EOC for early treatment.“We act early. This is the reason why we contract trace—so that we will not reach the stage of severe cases,” said Deocampo.
