BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson is finding ways to give Capitol employees additional bonus this December, said Vice-Governor Jeffrey Ferrer.

Ferrer said the governor is trying to find if there are available funds for the bonus while ensuring that it will be allowed by the Commission on Audit (COA).

Lacson earlier said Capitol employees will not receive extra bonus other than the 14th month pay this Christmas because the province spent a lot for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Meanwhile, Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees (PACE) President Renelo Lastierre said they are appealing to the provincial government to grant them their extra bonus.

Lastierre said they have pending proposals for other benefits such as the Collective Negotiation Agreement Incentive and Productivity Enhancement Incentive.

“We understand the effects of the pandemic to our province and to the whole country but the employees are also hoping that we will be given our extra bonus on top of the benefits mandated by the law,” said Lastierre.

Last year, the Capitol employees received an extra bonus of P60,000, aside from the 13th and 14th month pay given every month of May and November of the year.
