P6.9 million estimated damage in agri, rice, and infra in Hinobaan, 375 families affected

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Typhoon Quinta left the municipality of Hinobaan with at least P6.9 million estimated damage to agriculture, rice crops and infrastructure, based on the partial assessment of the municipality.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, recorded nine barangays, 375 families and 1,567 individuals affected by floodings.

According to the record of Municipal Agriculture, the damage on agriculture, livestock and rice crops reached P4,363,500 with around 240 hectares of land and 198 farmers affected.

Records from the Municipal Engineering Office showed that the damage on infrastructure reached P2.6 million, including the bridges in Talacagay and Bacuyangan. Most of the damage on agriculture and infrastructure were from barangays Talacagay, Bacuyangan and San Rafael.

Councilor Jason Tupas earlier told DNX that floodings started at 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon when heavy rains brought by Quinta wrought damage to crops, and livestock.

As of press time, the floodings in the typhoon-hit areas have subsided.
