Only for the poor: Cleansing on in Sugarlandia for 4Ps beneficiaries

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Thousands of Negrenses who get money from a State subsidy program will be among the 300,000 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Western Visayas whose status will be reviewed, lawyer May Rago-Castillo, Regional Information Officer of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said.

“Out of this list, I cannot still give you the specific number kung pila ang makakas because that will be still dependent sa intensive recall” she added.

She added that the nationwide cleansing is under the directive of DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo to update and to ensure that beneficiaries are qualified to receive the cash grants.

There already have been 12,949 who have been removed from the list before the order was imposed since they are self-sufficient or have kids that completed schooling

Region 6 is given until the end of the month for the cleansing, and staff under the department in every Local Government Unit (LGU) are processing the cleansing.

The beneficiaries who will be removed will be informed by the department.

The National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction, or Listahanan, is an information management system is used by DSWD to identify “names of the poor and where the poor are” who will be potential 4Ps beneficiaries.

Individuals that will be qualified for the conditional cash grant must fall within the following criteria: (a) must be classified as poor or near poor, (b) must have children from 0 to 18 years of age, or members who are pregnant at the time of registration, and (c) willing to comply with the requirements.
