NONESCOST turns over supplies, relief goods to frontliners

The Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology (NONESCOST) has turned over relief goods and medical supplies to those affected by the COVID pandemic.

NONESCOST, in a press release sent to DNX, said the college — through its collaboration with cooperatives, alumni association and other academic institutions and private individuals — was able to donate a considerable number of relief goods and medical supplies to frontliners.

The college was able to donate the following to frontliners and health workers and community indigents(PWDs, IPs, Senior citizens) in the different cities and municipalities:

225 pcs of Face Shields, 575 pcs of face asks (cloth), 96 pcs of gloves, 96 pcs of liquid hand soaps, 380 bags of 5 kilos rice, 2,193 packs of food, groceries and relief goods.

NONESCOST said it is “one with the nation in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic”.

The press release said after receiving the National Advisories from DOH, IATF, CHED and LGUs, the NONESCOST College President, Dr. Romulo T. Sisno, undertook the following measures:

  • Immediate suspension of classes after the declaration of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) on March 16, 2020
  • Creation of the College Crisis Management Committee to manage and monitor situations
  • Conduct of campus-wide disinfection
  • Adoption of flexible/Alternative Learning platforms in lieu of face to face or in-campus meetings,
  • Maintenance of a skeleton workforce and work from home scheme were adopted
  • Strict implementation of social/physical distancing,
  • Observance of proper hygiene and sanitation in the workplace (i.e. provision of alcohol, hand sanitizer, hand washing, etc), and thermal scanning at the entrance gate.
