BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Phillippines – City Traffic Authority Office chief, Major Junjie Liba, said he instantly terminated a traffic enforcer who worked under his watch since July 2022 after the latter received a bribe from a motorist.

In a video posted on social media, it was shown that the woman backriding a motorcycle reached for the hand of the enforcer as if she was giving him something.

This video immediately circulated on the Internet as Liba called the attention of the enforcer and invited him to his office.

The enforcer, whom Liba did not name, was then admitted to have received P50 from the woman who was not wearing helmet, supposedly a traffic violation.

The enforcer did not cite the woman for the violation and let her go in exchange for the apparent bribe.

Liba said the enforcer asked him for a chance however, to which he replied that he has to take accountability for his actions.

He added this would also serve as a lesson for other enforcers to not accept bribes.

The enforcer was a job order casual employee that had been working under BTAO since last year.

Liba also added that there is no need to file a case against him since his appointment is only coterminous.
