MassKara 2020 suspended; revelries, activities halted

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia has signed an Executive Order suspending the public celebration of Masskara Festival, and all other related revelries and activities during the month of October.

The mayor, through E.O. 62, said the suspension is in observance of and compliance to the health and safety protocols stemming from the spread of CoViD-19.

Bacolod City had earlier been placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) from 8 September 8, 2020 until September 30, 2020 by the National Inter-Agency Task Force.

Among the activities to be suspended parades, street dance competitions, exhibits, road shows, dance/talent/singing/beauty/costume/pyrotechnic contests, concerts, sports events, cockfights, open market/food/plants/wares/apparel fairs, industrial/commercial fairs,  or any other form of peddling/interactions/transactions in open places at public roads/streets/alleys/parks/squares.

The Business Permits and Licensing Office, the E.O. said, will not issue any business permit or license to operate for any form of activities or events in connection with the 2020 MassKara Festival.

Any permit and license that may have already been issued/granted prior to this Executive Order is revoked or cancelled.
