BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental Philippines – The Sangguniang Panlungsod has given Mayor Evelio Leonardia prerogative to enforce new curfew hours, Councilor Archie Baribar said.

Baribar said the council yesterday introduced amendments to the current curfew ordinance to give the mayor authority to implement new curfew hours.

“If is the mayor’s call now, whether he is going to make it 10 p.m., or 8 p.m. or 6 p.m… We accede to his request,” Baribar told DNX.

The new curfew, should the mayor decide to enforce one, is subject to another Executive Order before it can take place.

Currently, the curfew ordinance pegged “non-social hours” at 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

The mayor, in his Executive Order 50 outlining the conditions of the extended Modified General Community Quarantine, included new curfew hours from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. subject to council approval.
