BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – “The queen of England had herself vaccinated and even the incoming president of the United States also wants to have it; let’s trust the science.”

To City Administrator Em Ang, the fact that top world leaders are having themselves vaccinated points to the fact that the science behind it is “sound”and people should trust it.

In fact, Ang is ready to be the first or be among the first batch of officials here to get the COVID shots as soon as vaccination starts, hopefully by the second semester or around May this year, she told DNX.

Lone District Cong. Greg Gasataya, on the other hand, said as soon as the leadership of the House of Representatives give the go-signal for them to get anti COVID vaccines, he is ready to do so “at a moment’s notice.”

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, on the other hand, had said he is “willing to get the shot,” Ang said.

The mayor sees the vaccines as “the light at the end of the tunnel” and would want the public to take part in the voluntary vaccination program.

Vice-Mayor El Cid Familiaran, meanwhile, said he has to get a clearance from his physician because of possible complications because of his age but as soon as he gets it, he will have himself vaccinated.

“I know it is important to show people that we trust it,” he added.

The local government here had already earmarked at least P300 million to buy 650,000 doses of the Astra Zeneca SARS-CoV2 virus that had been causing the COVID19.
