Road safety advocates to gather in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY – Road and traffic safety advocates will gather here this weekend to spread the need for the public to become more aware of safety on the streets.

“There is still a need to educate the public more about road safety,” May Altarejos-Cueva, founder of Project Community Activities Reaching Everyone Through Services (CARES), Inc. told DNX.

Cueva, whose brother, Augustus died in a road accident 25 years ago, said accidents are not really “accidents because these can be prevented.”

The two-day event will be held at the third floor of Robinson’s Place, the first mall constructed here.

The National Police’ city and provincial offices are taking part in the activity aside from the Negros Press Club.

Guests from the Automobile Association Philippines and the Philippine Global Safety Partnership are also available expected to arrive.

Lawyer Cesar Beloria Jr. will also set up a free legal clinic for families of accident victims and other cases.

A candle lighting for all road victims will also be conducted while a Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas representative will also conduct a talk on counterfeit money.
