The training-workshop is one of the most effective tools in improving a person’s skill on something. It may either be in a form of writing, editing, singing, broadcasting, etc.
With this in mind, the Department of Agrarian Reform-Negros Occidental 2 headed by Dr. Enrique Paderes, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer I, conducted a symposium in collaboration with Central Philippines State University to spread its new normal programs to its agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) through a Writeshop on Agri-Tekno Komiks last 28 to 29 January 2021 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Research and Development Center, Main Campus, Kabankalan City.
Thirty-two selected students were called to participate in this writeshop to enhance their skills in writing, drawing, and web editing which will be used as a method to reach-out agrarian reform beneficiaries in southern negros occidental during these trying times.
To guide students in making an instructional comics book, five speakers were invited to give their inputs and techniques.
The pool of speakers includes Mr. Dindo Gilasque, Ms. Jorgie Serfino, Mr. Jeffrey Gil Lingamen, Dr. Flora L. Carpio, the Director for Development Communication and Information Office (DCIO), and Ms. Diona Molina, Senior Agrarian Reform Program Officer. Speakers shared first-hand information on basic scriptwriting, web editing, layouting, and basic cartooning skills.
Some speakers who are also experts in web editing shared various computer and android editing applications for student artists to convert their work into a realistic and engaging work of art.
During the writeshop, student participants were divided into three.
The first group was assigned to create a Basic Organizational Training for ARBs, the second group was assigned to create a Strategic Plan, while the 3rd group was assigned to create instructional comics book.
The writeshop measured each group’s camaraderie and creativity in drawing, scriptwriting, concept generation, and web layouting.
Due to the positive result of the writeshop, the Department of Agrarian Reform-Negros Occidental 2 covering from the City of Bago down to the Municipality of Hinobaan and Central Philippines State University sealed off its commitment by signing the Memorandum of Agreement that will better equip student artists in creating comic-based instructional materials into a local dialect that would give local farmers enough knowledge on new farming technologies and techniques.
The agreement also contains future programs for both organizations, one of which is the conceptualization of Radyo Agraryo which will benefit all Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries of DAR-Negros Occidental 2.
Present during the MOA signing were Dr. Aladino Moraca, CPSU President, Engr. Arnulfo Figueroa, Provincial Agrarian Reform Project Officer II, Madam Edna M. Villaruel, Dr. Mae Flor Posadas, Acting Vice President for Research and Extension, Dr. Mary Ann Dagunan, Dean of CPSU Graduate School, Dr. Ferdinand Abello, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Josephine R. Emoy, Director, IMPDC, Dr. Mary Grace Noreen Leduna, Director for Training, and Dr. Allan Posadas, together with other CPSU faculty of the University from the main and Extension campuses.
