COMELEC finalizes plan for May 9 elections, police always on alert

The Commission on Elections conducted a coordinating conference today for the province of Negros Occidental for 9 May 2022 national and local elections among the police and military ranks.

Members of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection and power suppliers discussed security matters for the 9th May 2022 polls at the Negros Residences.

Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office spokesperson Lt. Abegael Donasco said they are currently finalizing the deployment of their personnel to 698 voting centers on election day.

Donasco also stressed that the police is always on alert as she assured that there are no reports of election-related violence over the province so far.

Acting Bacolod City poll registrar lawyer Revo Sorbito meanwhile appealed to voters to vote early to avoid overcrowding.

Voting will begin from 6:00 A.M until 7:00 P.M.

Sorbito also clarified that there is no other requirements for voters except the wearing of masks and observing social distancing.

The COMELEC had earlier announced that they will only be allowing a 30 meter radius line from polling precints.

Sorbito also hopes that the vote counting machines will not malfunction so that their office could finish counting and proclaiming the winners on the early morning of May 10.
