City gives free face shields to vendors, drivers

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The city government here distributed 9,800 face shields to market vendors and transport sector.

In a press release, the Sectoral Concerns Office has distributed face shields to vendors in Burgos Public Market, Central Market, Libertad Public Market, flower market and Manokan Country, as well as Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ), tricycle and trisikad drivers.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod earlier passed City Ordinance 944 that requires the mandatory use of face shields in public places, public transportation or vehicle, and all enclosed offices and establishments doing business and services.

Violators of the said ordinance will be penalized with eight-hour community service or be fined with P200 while non-residents with P300.

A citation ticket will be issued to violators who will not comply with the ordinance and to those who will not observe social distancing.
