Bacolod, 18 other LGUs suspend classes as heavy rains brought by Paeng lash province

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Nineteen LGUs have declared suspension of classes in all levels, while one suspended classes in selected schools.

The cities of Bacolod, Bago, Escalante, La Carlota, San Carlos, Silay, Sipalay, and Talisay, as well as municipalities of Calatrava, EB Magalona, Hinigaran, Hinobaan, La Castellana,
Moises Padilla, Murcia, Pontevedra, San Enrique, Toboso and Valladolid suspended classes in all levels due to torrential rains brought by Tropical Depression Paeng.

Meanwhile, Don Salvador Benedicto declared a suspension of classes in Sofronio Carmona Memorial National High School (Main), and Bagong Silang Extension and Pinowayan Extension.

LGUs have also evacuated dozens of families who were severely affected by the heavy rains.

Relief and rescue operations are currently underway as floodings forced people to move to safer ground.
