Army-Reds clash in Guihulngan, two rebels wounded

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Two suspected rebels were believed wounded in an encounter with soldiers in Sitio Cambairan, Brgy Trinidad, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental today, 16 August 2022, Camp Gerona reported.

The incident happened when troops of the 62nd Battalion were confirming that armed rebels were threatening and extorting from residents living in the uplands of the City.

More or less 10 Reds believed to be members of the Komiteng Rehiyon Negros/Cebu/Bohol/Siquijor (CN1 KR-NCBS) were encountered during the fight that lasted for 10 minutes.

The rebels then withdrew by escaping towards the south.

No casualties from the military were reported.
