A harrowing story: Police probes reported daylight abduction, repeated rape of woman, 23

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental— The sun was still up when a woman, 23, who was about to go home to nearby Silay after her work was abducted along a busy stretch of road in Bata village while she was riding a public utility vehicle yesterday.

Station 3 chief Captain Armilyn Vargas said the victim is now under their custody for questioning and for the conduct of a medic-legal examination .

Vargas said the victim claimed said she was forcibly grabbed by her hair by two men who forced her inside the sidecar of a tricycle.

She was then blindfolded and brought to a house where she was held for hours.

She said the men forced her to drink water which could have been laced by drugs and made her feel weak.

They then took turns raping her.

She was able to escape, however, around 2am through a broken window after which she passed out.

She said she regained consciousness inside a car driven by a woman who reportedly picked her up after seeing her unconscious.

The woman, a stranger, reportedly dropped her off in Guinhalaran village.

The police is currently checking the CCTV footages along the Carlos Hilado Highway in Bata village as part of heir investigation.

Prior to the escape of the woman, police also received a report from the victim’s aunt regarding a message from an unknown Messenger account asking for P10,000 for the return of the victim.

Though some of the victims’ statements are inconsistent, police also stressed that she might be still in a state of trauma.
